About Bart

Bart is a South Carolina native who has lived in the Lowcountry for over 25 years. He graduated from The Citadel in 2003 and worked in the private sector before attending the Charleston School of Law in 2010. While in law school, Bart was on the Honor Court and on the Federal Courts Law Review.

After graduation, Bart clerked for The Honorable Brian M. Gibbons in the Sixth Circuit of South Carolina. Next, he went to work for the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, where he spent the first year trying Magistrate cases then worked his way up to General Sessions cases. Ready to return home, Bart took a job with the 9th Cicruit Solicitor’s Office where he managed a docket of over 500 warrants. As one of the senior trial attorneys, Bart tried several violent cases including murder, armed robbery, kidnapping, and drug trafficking.

In 2022, Bart left the solicitor’s office to focus on broadening his legal experience. He joined the Berkeley County Attorney’s Office as Assistant County Attorney. During his time with the county attorney’s office, Bart handled various lawsuits involving tax sales, contract disputes, and other civil matters.

Bart also serves as a Judge Advocate in the South Carolina Army National Guard. He began his military career prosecuting criminal cases in the Army. He deployed overseas in 2023-2024 and his primary job was Chief of Military Justice. Currently, Bart does defense work for the South Carolina National Guard.

A resident of Summerville, Bart is married with two children. He’s involved with his church and a number of civic organizations. He enjoys spending time with his family and the outdoors.
